TALK / POSTER INSTRUCTIONSOral and poster presentations on any topic relating to evolution will be accepted. Abstracts should be no longer than 250 words. See Abstracts-link for an online submission form. Deadline for abstracts is July 31 2009 Oral presentationsOral Presentations should be of 15 minutes total duration, including questions. How you use these 15 minutes is up to you, although we suggest 12 minutes to talk and 2 - 3 minutes for questions as a good formula. If you plan to use a PowerPoint or Keynote presentation (both MAC and PC computers will be provided), please bring a copy of the file on USB drive (or CD) and submit it to conference organizers during registration. We recommend that you also bring a backup copy and keep this with you. Be sure to let us know of any specific requirements for your presentation. Prizes will be awarded for the best student Oral Presentations. All speakers registered as student members will be eligible for prizes. Poster presentationsPosters should be prepared using a font large enough for comfortable reading, and should not include too much text. In general, a poster should make only one major point. Relevant background information, methods, results (including statistics) and a brief discussion of the implications of the results should be included. Posters should not be larger than A0 (84.1cm wide x 118.9cm high). Posters may be fastened with drawing pins or Velcro. Bring a backup copy of your poster on CD - if anything happens to your printed poster we might be able to arrange to print and laminate a replacement. Posters are expected to have a very high profile in this year's meeting. They will be available for viewing during breaks throughout the conference adjacent to the theatre in which talks will be presented and we plan to have a special evening poster session with drinks. We would especially like to encourage students at early stages of their research to consider a poster presentation. They are an excellent format for soliciting feedback. Prizes will be awarded for the best student Poster Presentations. All poster presenters registered as student members will be eligible for prizes. |
